Culture Fair – May 5

Join Gr 9FI students as they host Culture Fair Thursday, May 5 between 8:40-11:10 am.

Students will display, showcase and share their ethnic group interactively with you.  You will be invited to use questions from their passports to engage them in conversation, then watch as each group performs a traditional dance at center court.

HRSB Getting to Great Survey

Getting to Great, the Halifax Regional School Board’s online school improvement survey, is now available.

The Getting to Great survey provides an opportunity for students in grades 4-12, parents/guardians, teachers and support staff to share information that will help us improve schools.

The online survey is available from April 4 – 29, 2016. Please visit the website:http://survey.hrsb.ns.ca to start the survey. Participation is voluntary and all survey information is anonymous and is not used to evaluate individuals.

Lunch Monitor needed for FBJH

The Halifax Regional School Board is accepting applications for School Lunch Monitors at Five Bridges Junior High. Casual full-time (5 days per week) is available (approximately 1 hour per day).

RequirementsStrong supervisory skills specifically with children / Ability to work well as part of a team / Capable of organizing and working with large numbers of children / Strong communication skills

Travelling on a different bus

Any students wishing to travel home after school on a bus other than the bus they are supposed to travel on is required:

  • to bring in a hand-written note from a parent/guardian which indicates the following
    • date of the event
    • which bus they will be traveling on
    • where they are going
    • who they are travelling with
    • Parent / guardian signature
ANY bus change requests notes must be signed by the main office prior to the end of the day & logged in the bus change request binder in the main office.

The signed note is to be given to the bus driver by the student upon getting on the bus to indicate that they have consent and have checked in at the office.
