The objectives of the trip to Ste. Anne are to:

ü     Provide an opportunity for the student to be totally immersed in a French environment.

ü     Provide an educational awareness of the existence of French in other areas of our Province.

ü     Provide an opportunity to differentiate between the Acadian dialect and the French spoken in the classroom.

ü     Provide an educational, as well as an enjoyable cultural exchange.

ü     Provide students with the opportunity to interact with other students who are at the same level.

Students are asked to pack a lunch with them on Monday because we are no longer stopping at Grand Pré to visit the park.

Students will each have an opportunity to write in their journals. They will record the events of that day to be handed in at the end of the trip, which will be evaluated as part of the French term mark. Students are asked to bring a notebook; however, they will need to bring along pens, pencils, markers, and of course their dictionary.

The total immersion begins on the bus. There is a plaque awarded to the school with the least number of English warnings.

Some of the rules during the week:

ü     One has to speak French at all times. A contract will be signed stating that the student will only speak French during the trip. Privileges will be taken away such as missing part of or the entire dance if students are warned. .

ü     No money is needed as everything is included; however, there is a small campus shop on site where students can purchase souvenirs such as t-shirts, pins etc.

ü     Students must attend all functions. They may not leave the University Campus. The university is not responsible for any stolen articles. The rooms can be locked; however, it is not a good idea to leave money or valuables behind.

ü     Students may speak in English when they phone home.  These pay phones are located in a quiet zone. They can use these with a teacher or chaperone's permission.

ü     No phone calls are to be made to other residences unless for emergencies.

ü     The expression Comment dit-on ? can be used for one word at a time.

ü     Hats are permitted on campus but not in the cafeteria.

ü     Students may take 2 drinks and one dessert at a time. They may return for more at that point if they wish.

ü     No gum is allowed in the residences.

ü     No running in the hallways.

ü     Rooms are to be left as they were upon arrival. We will check them when we arrive and upon departure.

ü     No tape or tacks on the walls in  the residences

ü     Students are not to remove or tamper with window screens.

ü     Only one suitcase per student is permitted. Please indicate name and school clearly on the bag.

ü     A $15.00 lost key fee will be charged.

ü     Rules of Five Bridges Junior High apply (No smoking, dress code, etc.)

ü     Rooms must be kept tidy, as inspections will take place.

ü     No English music or books allowed.

ü     Curfew of 10:00 each night.

ü     Busses must be cleaned before arrival.

ü     Students must wear identification tags at all times. They will indicate name and school. They will be needed for entrance to cafeteria and events.
